Why did you come to the FEC?

I wanted to learn how to build up my credit score and be financially stable enough for homeownership.

I was experiencing homelessness due to COVID-19 and was in major debt. I needed help prioritizing my payments, and strategizing a plan to pay off my debt, increase my credit score, and come up with a realistic savings plans due to the current circumstances.
What financial achievements have you made since coming to the FEC?

I have been able to increase my credit score by at least 60 points since June 2020 with credit boosting strategies suggested by my financial advisor. In addition, I have been able to save at least $6,000 at the Federal Cooperative.

Since I came to the FEC I have reduced my debt in half, my credit has gone up 84 points. Also, I have paid off most of my creditors.
Why and how has the FEC made a difference in your financial future and overall life? What has working with a Financial Counselor done to help you, your family, etc.? What would you say to a friend or family member who was curious about how the FEC could help them?

The counseling I received gave me much more knowledge on spending and savings tactics. The advice I was given also helped me see results in my credit score increasing! I would highly recommend the FEC to anyone who is seeking to improve their finances or just learn more in general about money/debt handling.
